Private Hormone Clinics
Normally when you are diagnosed with Klinefelter’s Syndrome, your first port of call is with the NHS system (UK). Endocrinologists that specialise in KS ‘within the NHS are few and far between. They tend to be diabetes endo’s which cover hormone conditions.
This means they know some of the issues of KS and the standing joke is that we, as “sufferers” of KS tend to know more about our condition than any group of endos ever could. If you have read my other posts on this website, you will see that since my diagnosis in 2015 I have had 6 endo’s and I am currently without one at all.
Private Hormone Clinics in the UK (of which there are many) fill the gap between the KS patient and the NHS. Ok, so they charge but it’s not an extortionate amount of money but the service you get, and the choice of medication is second to none.
Private Clinics offer a range of services from new patient consultations (for people not on TRT) to new patient consultations (for people already on TRT and who wish to continue their treatment privately). They also offer telephone and skype follow up consultations. Blood tests are thorough – covering a whole range of areas that your NHS doctor / endo doesn’t do and with added extra tests should you require them including DHT, Pregnenolone, IGF-1 and thyroid.
Their treatments are aimed at providing the patient with the best form of TRT possible at an affordable price and in a way that suits the patient. On the NHS, injectable T options are either Nebido or Sustanon. Private Clinics offer other versions of injectable T that are not available to the NHS such as Cypionate and Enanthate. They also believe that offering hCG as part of their treatments is a given, as it is the only way that optimal T levels can be achieved.
Some do offer Nebido but on the basis that it is self-injected weekly as opposed to 12 weekly and again with hCG and some do offer testosterone gels but with hCG. Some Private Clinics do not advocate the use of Sustanon, some don’t advocate the use of Nebido. Some clinics add oestrogen inhibitors to their treatment options.
If you are interested in going down the private clinic route then I suggest you read about the different types of TRT in the pages of this website and then google “private hormone clinics” and search YouTube for “cypionate” . I will not be drawn into recommending one clinic or another as I have not tried any of them, however it is a route that I intend to take in the very near future.
